ET is a german abbreviation and stands for Einpreßtiefe. ET5 means an offset in millimeters between two planes. The first lies in the middle of the rim (for a 8" rim at 4"). The second is the mounting plane of the rim. For a rim with the middle plane more outside than the mounting plane ET is going negativ. -5 means there is a 5 mm thick distance plate which decreases the resulting ET. A rim with ET5 combined with a 5 mm distance plate results in a ET of 0 mm.
